Global Development
A key programme within the work of the Observatory is focussed on mapping the development of hospice and palliative care services around the world, and particularly in resource-poor settings. Our team of researchers and collaborators carries out this work using a common template for each country, thereby allowing effective comparison between countries and regions. Data is gathered from many sources. Field visits are carried out whenever possible and we place a strong emphasis on the use of interviews with key activists. We present data here on over 60 countries. This is a unique collection of material that is being updated and expanded on a regular basis. Search here for details of specific countries or explore some of the cross-cutting issues that are common to the development of palliative care in many contexts. You can download entire country reports, or analyse and compare countries in relation to specific themes and topics. Our recent studies in Africa, the Middle East and India are presented here, along with updates on hospice and palliative care developments within Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, (CEE/CIS). You can quickly gain access to our individual country reports by clicking on Observatory Country Reports at the topmost right of this page. |
