In 1991, Pallium Latinoamerica emerged out of an earlier and similar initiative developed in La Plata to structure and organize palliative care education and training in the country.⁸ The Pallium website⁹ gives a history of palliative care in Argentina, together with details of education and research opportunities.

The Argentinean Association for Medicine and Palliative Care (AAMPC) was established in 1994. The AAMPC website¹⁰ includes:

~Boletín Científico (Scientific Bulletin) - a monthly release that covers clinical, ethical and educational topics directed towards a wide audience of palliative care professionals.
~Normas - Legislación (Rules - Legislation) outlining the legislative framework that regulates palliative care and the use of opioids

Links have been created with the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC).¹¹

In October 2004, the AAMyPC announced the creation of a National Directory of Palliative Care aiming at systematically recording palliative care initiatives developed countrywide.¹²
