Palliative Care 'Coverage' in Argentina

Although around 80 teams provide palliative care in Argentina, only a few of them offer a wide range of services. Palliative care coverage across the country is mixed. In the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires the majority of services are available in hospitals and at home – most of them underpinned by good bereavement support and specialist training for health professionals. In some areas, palliative care is unavailable.

Table 2 shows the ratio palliative care services per million population in cities of Argentina in which the more consolidated palliative care services exist.
