The Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) based in Cairo, as a World Health Organisation (WHO) office, aims to promote health in the 22 states of the region, of which Egypt is one. At present EMRO is proposing to develop a training programme as part of a plan to promote palliative care services in these states, since palliative care services remain underdeveloped.8
A palliative care training programme is being development at NCI, which aims to provide basic training as part of their general medical education for doctors, nurses and other professionals.9
At the Cairo Evangelical Medical Hospice, Naguib Elnikhaily has organised training courses provided by visiting nurses from the UK.10
