The Global Fund signed an agreement on 2 April 2004 for US $7.5 million over a two year period. Round 2 of this programme will focus on prevention and mitigation of the social impact of HIV/AIDS. Funds will be disbursed through the National AIDS Council (CNCS) of Mozambique and the Ministry of Health of the Government of Mozambique.

Home based care is primarily provided by donor funded NGOs and CBOs whose volunteers are paid a stipend.
