Palliative Care Workforce Capacity in South Africa
National statistics relating to the palliative care workforce capacity in South Africa are shown in Tables 15 and 16. During 2003-2004, 842 personnel were employed by the membership of HPCA for a total of 125,780 hours per month; 1,978 volunteers gave 25,806 hours per month. During the same period, 695 allied personnel were employed for a total of 85,196 hours; 3194 volunteers gave an unspecified amount of time (Tables 17 and 18).
