Tanzania

Tanzania (population 36.59 million) is a country in Eastern Africa, bordering the Indian Ocean that covers an area of 945,087 square kilometres. Its boundaries border Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. The capital of Tanzania is Dar es Salaam.

According to the United Nations human development index (HDI), Tanzania is ranked 162/177 countries worldwide (value 0.407)1 and 30/45 African countries for which an index is available. This places Tanzania in the group of countries with low human development.
