Turkey

Turkey (population 68.8 million) is located largely in south western Asia, and in south eastern Europe west of the Bosporus. Turkeycovers an area of 780,580 square kilometres; bordering the Black Sea between Bulgaria and Georgia, and bordering the Aegean and Mediterranean Sea between Greece and Syria. Land boundaries border Bulgaria and Greece to the west; Georgia, Armenia and Iran to the north and east; Iraq and Syria to the south.

According to the United Nations human development index (HDI), Turkey is ranked 88/177 countries worldwide (value 0.751).1 This places Turkey in the group of countries with medium human development.
