Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe1 (population 12.85 million)2 is a landlocked country in Southern Africa that covers an area of 390,580 square kilometres. Its boundaries border Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, and Mozambique. The river Zambezi forms a natural boundary with Zambia. In full flood between February and April, the Victoria Falls forms the world's largest curtain of falling water. According to the United Nations human development index (HDI) 2003, Zimbabwe is ranked 145/175 countries worldwide (value 0.496)3 and 18/45 African countries for which an index is available. This places Zimbabwe in the low human development group.
