Oral History Collection - Travelling Exhibition

Following on from the publication A Bit of Heaven for the Few? An oral history of the modern hospice movement in the United Kingdom a "Travelling Exhibition" was created to complement the book.

The exhibition consists of nine rigid, wall-mountable panels. Eight of the panels each reflect a chapter from the book, whilst the ninth is an introduction to the display.

Visitors to the exhibition will experience the unfolding story of modern hospice development, each panel reflecting chosen quotes from one of the 300 plus women and men interviewed as part of our continuing project to capture the colourful narratives of those involved in the hospice movement. Whenever possible, images complement the narrative on the panels.

Information and Education

As the Wellcome trust maintains; " We seek to improve understanding of the ways science and medicine have developed, and how research affects people and society today".

This exhibition is intended to inform palliative care professionals and the general public at large of the motivations, events, decisions and skills that have made the modern hospice movement what it is today.

It is ideally suited for use at conferences, open days and public arenas where it can provide a historic background to matters concerning hospices generally.

It is particularly useful as an educational aid, providing a breadth of knowledge to students associated with hospice organisations. To assist with this, the exhibition can be printed out in either A0 or A1 at a cost of £27 for you to keep.

The exhibition is available to any pallaitive care organisation wishing to use it on a loan basis. All that we ask is you pay for the delivery and return of the panels.
